Online Gambling: Why Influencers Must Be Accountable

The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has ordered influencers and content creators to delete their posts promoting online gambling sites, warning that violators may face imprisonment and hefty fines.

Online Gambling and Influencers: Why I Refuse to Promote It

As soon as the CICC issued a directive against influencers endorsing online gambling, it reaffirmed a value I’ve always upheld—protecting my audience over profit. As a motorcycle lifestyle creator and advocate for road safety, I refuse to let my platform become a channel for vice.

Online gambling may seem harmless at first glance. However, it can destroy lives silently—pushing people into addiction, debt, and desperation. While some influencers may defend such promotions as “just work,” the truth is, we shape behaviors. We influence not just purchases, but mindsets. And when gambling is involved, the stakes are higher than likes or views.

That’s why I’ve drawn the line from day one. I don’t promote gambling on any of my platforms—period.

The CICC’s Stand: A Win for Online Accountability

The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) isn’t just making noise. They’re enforcing the law. Under Republic Act No. 11479 and other cybercrime policies, promoting online gambling—especially those unlicensed—is illegal. Influencers caught doing so could face imprisonment and fines of up to ₱500,000.

This isn’t a vague warning. It’s a serious reminder: Influence is not a free pass to bypass ethics or legality. And for once, we’re seeing government agencies take a firm step toward digital discipline.

Online Gambling: My Role as an Influencer

Let me be clear: I didn’t become an influencer just to earn. I started this journey to connect, to educate, and to advocate for safer roads and smarter riders. Promoting online gambling goes directly against that mission.

Every time I post a tip about motorcycle safety or share my experiences as a commuter, I’m choosing purpose over profit. I’m choosing to influence people in a way that improves their lives—not endangers them. While some may think it’s “just an ad,” I know better. Words have weight. Promos have power.

And when that power is used irresponsibly, we lose the trust we’ve worked so hard to build.

A Call to Fellow Creators: We Can Do Better

To my fellow influencers, especially in the motorcycle and lifestyle space—we don’t need gambling money to succeed. We have stories to tell, values to share, and communities that look up to us. Let’s not trade long-term credibility for short-term cash.

Let this crackdown be a turning point. Let’s clean up our feeds, audit our brand deals, and be the kind of influencers the next generation can look up to. Hindi lang views ang importante—ang integridad, mas mahalaga.
